Jason Lacombe shared an overview of blockchain and discussed practical use cases for the technology at GIANT Health.

On Wednesday, October 16th, Veratrak’s Chief Executive Officer, Jason Lacombe, was invited to speak about Veratrak’s role in improving visibility, collaboration and data integrity across the pharmaceutical supply chain during the ‘Blockchain in Action’ session at GIANT Health 2019. The session was well attended with Jason first providing an overview of blockchain and then sharing practical use cases for the technology - subsequently sparking an interactive discussion. The audience agreed that the current processes for sharing documentation outside the walls of an organisation are not secure or collaborative, with the majority of information being exchanged over email. A few audience members shared stories of their own organisational impact from using unsecure channels of communication like email. Key takeaways from the session: Many organisations across the pharmaceutical supply chain are currently sharing batch documentation with their suppliers and partners through unsecure, non-collaborative and inefficient channels, with the majority using email. Using a modern SaaS platform, like Veratrak, and blockchain technology, allows for secure and compliant exchange of information outside…

Jason Lacombe was invited to speak about Veratrak’s role in improving visibility, collaboration and data integrity across the pharmaceutical supply chain

On Thursday, October 24th, Veratrak’s Chief Executive Officer, Jason Lacombe, was invited to speak about how Veratrak is improving visibility, collaboration, and data integrity across the pharmaceutical supply chain; through working with a number of Contract Packaging Organisations (CPO’s) and their suppliers. The goal of the session was to explore how novel technologies like blockchain are being used by Veratrak customers to reduce lead times, free up working capital, and provide improved visibility and compliance of batch document collaboration processes. Jason first provided the audience with a practical overview of blockchain and then discussed a customer case study. Throughout the presentation, the audience shared their opinions on new technologies and how their organisations are beginning to explore digitisation. It was clear that organisations are currently sharing sensitive batch documentation using unsecure and non-collaborative channels, with the majority of information being exchanged over email. This has led to challenges with auditing suppliers, efficiently coordinating drug recalls, and in extreme cases, drug stock-outs. Key takeaways from the session:Many organisations across…

Veratrak Attends Pharma Packaging and Labeling East Coast 2020 Conference in Philadelphia

The Veratrak team travelled to Philadelphia in February to attend the Pharma Packaging and Labeling East Coast Conference. The team was excited to engage with the 150+ attendees and hear of the state of the art developments currently taking place in the US and Europe Pharma Packaging and Labeling environment. It was insightful for the team to understand how the market was tackling issues around serialisation, tracking and tracing of materials, and learn of new developments in making these processes more robust and efficient. On hearing Gerrit-Jan Nijveldt from Otsuka Pharmaceuticals address the audience about how using technology can help with CCDS: "It was interesting to hear Gerrit-Jan Nijveldt discuss how companies need to look at implementation of innovative technical solutions to create CCDS and downstream local labeling. As a solution based enterprise with innovation at our core, it was valuable to see how Veratrak can help address many of these pressing issues through improved, secure document collaboration." — James Sully, Head of Partnerships

Aoife Plunkett attended a session discussing the FDA’s Case for Quality, the challenges of CSV, and the requirement for critical thinking across all business departments and processes.

On 29th July 2020, Veratrak’s Quality Assurance Manager, Aoife Plunkett, attended a session on GAMP®5, FDA CSA, and the Future of Computer Systems Validation, hosted by ISPE. During this talk, industry experts discussed the FCD CDRH Case for Quality, and how GAMP® supports this focus on quality over compliance, by encouraging the use of innovative technologies, and the application of effective good practices. ISPE’s Specific Interest Groups (SIGs) were discussed. These SIGs are responsible for researching and publishing reports on new technologies, and include GAMP® Blockchain, GAMP® Cloud Computing and GAMP® Data Integrity, which tie in with our product at Veratrak and our process for developing new features. Reflections on Innovation within the pharmaceutical supply chain

Last week, Veratrak CEO, Jason Lacombe and Head of Product, Matthew Wilson attended a day long workshop focused on "innovation" within pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply chain at the Big Innovation Centre in London. On hand for the day was the senior management team of a large pharmaceutical company and a selection of invited technology companies and innovators from around the world. The theme was: 'What will the pharmaceutical supply chain look like in 2030?' Veratrak was invited as a result of being awarded "Innovation of the Year" by the University of Oxford for our blockchain based documentation sharing and collaboration platform for the pharmaceutical supply chain. The key takeaways from the workshop are discussed below. Big Pharma thinks ‘big bang’, but the transition does not become anybody’s ownership using this approach. Incremental change is better, affecting the people in the organisation who gain ownership of this issues. This drives more success. Being agile is not about IT, but culture, business structure and rules.Professor Birgitte Andersen, CEO at the Big Innovation Centre Traditional challenges…
