Background

A leading US pharmaceutical organisation with a complex global supply chain and distribution network faced increasing pressure to comply with Scope 3 emissions reporting regulatory requirements. 
Transport and Logistics leadership within the firm sought to accurately calculate and report their carbon emissions while establishing a baseline for future emissions reduction efforts.

The Challenge

The client needed to consolidate Transportation and Warehousing data from their extensive partner network into a unified platform.

Across their varied logistics network, the client needed confidence in a solution that can support different levels of partner logistics data maturity, and implement an emissions standard rooted in best practices for consistent measurement.

Additionally, they required seamless integration with third-party logistics (3PL) platforms to streamline data collection and reporting processes.

Knowing that upstream supply chain Scope 3 emissions account for approximately 80% of a pharmaceutical company's carbon footprint*, the client wanted high confidence in a baseline in order to measure effectiveness of their emissions reductions levers going forward.

Transport & warehousing data collection for simplified, ensuring smooth data flow and minimising implementation challenges. Users within the pharma company can easily onboard the relevant partner details and view sustainability data coverage through dashboards within the Hub.

Supply Chain Sustainability Best Practice Methodology: 

The client needed a solution that adhered to industry best practices in line with the GLEC framework and compliant with ISO1408.

 

The Outcome

The Hub provides dashboard visibility to pharma users to view supply chain carbon emissions data across their partner network, as well as overall programme management of collecting and calculating their Scope 3 carbon footprint.

In just 3 months, the customer was able to easily onboard 40+ logistics contacts for emissions reporting and unlocking historical emissions visibility dating back over 18 months.
